Welcome to the first event from the Portland community.
This community brings together Portland-area engineers, designers, product builders, startup founders, open source developers, AI builders, and new vibe-code developers to share what’s working, learn from each other’s experiences, and build real products together.
At this first meetup, we’ll kick off with a hands-on Stripe Hackathon: a one-day build session where teams create payments-flavored products powered by Stripe APIs and Claude. The focus is simple: build something real with money moving through it — whether that’s an AI agent that can check out a cart, reconcile an invoice, route a payout, support a marketplace flow, or prototype a new commerce experience.
No long presentations — just practical building, team formation, mentorship, demos, and real conversations with people in Portland working through the same product and technical challenges.
Who’s it for? Engineers, designers, product people, startup founders, open source contributors, AI/vibe-code developers, and anyone curious about building with Stripe and Claude. All skill levels are welcome, including first-time hackers and solo builders. Bring a laptop, charger, and an idea — or come ready to join a team.
We’ll do Show & tell: what you’re building. Teams will share what they built during the hackathon — wins, open challenges, questions, and demos welcome. No polished pitch required; the goal is to learn by building and help each other ship.
Then we’ll close with a tour of stripecommunity.com — where this community will live between events. We’ll also work together to define our community principles and discuss future Portland events around payments, AI product development, open source contribution, marketplaces, SaaS, ecommerce, and founder operations.
